Walnuts and walnut products. Among tree nuts, Korean labeling rules list only walnut and pine nut.
In the body
Storage proteins (such as Jug r 1) are the cause; small amounts can cause severe reactions, which usually last for life. Tree nut allergy can also appear newly in adults.
Watch out for
Common in pastries, bread, cereal, salad toppings and rice cakes. Almonds, cashews, pistachios and hazelnuts are not on the Korean list, so look for them directly on the label.
