The seed of the pine tree. Added to Korea's allergen labeling list in 2020.
In the body
Classed as a tree nut, with severe reactions to small amounts reported. It joined the Korean list because it is used so widely in Korean food (pine nut porridge, rice cakes, confections, garnish, naengmyeon broth).
Watch out for
Common in garnishes, rice cakes, traditional confections, porridge and traditional drinks. Some people are allergic to pine nut alone, others together with other nuts.
